Does Costco Sell Good Gutter Guards?
Costco is good for quite a few things, such as rotisserie chicken. However, they may not be the best place to get gutter guards. In fact, most Costco warehouses don’t even carry gutter guards routinely.
What they do do is bring in a pallet of a DIY product that they sell “warehouse style.” They also sell these through their website. What they sell are cheap stainless grill guards in with no color options, which you have to install yourself. Spending hours up a wobbly ladder wrestling with so-called “easy install” guards may not be the best use of your time. On top of that, there’s the time you will spend cleaning the gutter guards or repairing them after major storms or significant snow.
That said, they are better than average for a DIY option. There is no installation service, and they suggest hiring a local handyman instead, which is not often a good option unless the installer comes with a great reputation for quality work.

What About Those ‘Done For You‘ Guys?
Every so often, in specific Costco warehouses, you’ll find a promotion near the exit for a “done for you” gutter guard installation. This is another company they partner with, so you can get this level of service through these warehouses. They claim their gutter guards can handle lots of rain, but the design of this product can still let debris into the gutter. It can also gunk up with roof oils and has no way to stop moss, lichen and algae from growing on the painted surface.
Sometimes they will do a “roadshow” in the store. There are perks for ordering from them, such as discounts on other stuff from Costco.
However, Costco does take a cut of the sale, which can increase the price over what you might otherwise pay. More than that, they are installing the same type of gutter guards people designed in the 1880s. No, not the 1980s. The 1880s. Gutter guard technology has improved quite a lot since then, especially since the 1980s, when this specific design was introduced. Americans have moved on, and you should too.
Again, this is not a terrible option. However, bear in mind that these designs are screwed in place under the second set of shingles. If any mistakes are made, they can damage your roof. You are entirely dependent on the talent of the local contractor installing the system, and obviously installation quality can vary. Meanwhile, MasterShield’s guards don’t adhere anything to the roof. Our installation is approved by no less than four major shingle manufacturers.

It does get you custom installation, but you are still getting an older system with flat gutter guards that will gather debris, need to be cleaned, and potentially clog. You might end up with mold, vermin under the guard, or even plants growing out of it.
MasterShield cuts out that middle man and guarantees you an installer we have approved.
MasterShield does not sell 19th-century-designed gutter guards. Instead, we sell micro-mesh gutter guards that match the pitch of your roof. This allows them to naturally shed debris, significantly reducing the risk of other problems forming. They also keep ice moving, reducing the risk of ice dams that can damage your roof. A siphoning system ensures that water does not overrun your gutters. Furthermore, they have a self-cleaning filter with added copper. This deals with the oils and microbes and stuff that flow from your roof. All of this is for a comparable price to most other Done-for-You systems. You’ll get so much more value for your money with MasterShield.
What Kind of Warranty Comes With Costco Gutter Guards?
Do you have any recourse if the gutter guards don’t work or, worse, contribute to a problem after a storm? The DIY gutter guards appear to have a warranty, but there are not enough public details on how “user friendly” it is. To find out the details, you have to ask them. This really isn’t a great look although it appears that there is a warranty. It appears that the extended warranty is for 25 years, but again, this isn’t really clear.
Do you want to buy from a company that is not transparent about how or if it stands behind its product? It might not mean they don’t, but it might just mean they don’t. Also, there is always the risk that Costco will blame the manufacturer and the manufacturer Costco in the event of a problem. Costco has a reputation to preserve, so it is less likely to do this than some companies, but the possibility is there. Buying from a professional installer who stands by their work reduces the risk of this kind of blame gaming substantially. They will typically take responsibility for installation problems and work with the manufacturer on factory defects.
There’s also little information about the Done For You warranty on Costco’s site. The manufacturer they use offers a lifetime warranty through their site, transferable to one subsequent homeowner, but it is not clear whether this applies to products bought through Costco.
It’s also the most common kind of gutter guard warranty. They will come out and clean your gutters if they get clogged. They might help you work out why they are clogging.
MasterShield is very different on this front. Our lifetime warranty is transparent. We will fix your gutters if they clog, without arguing or trying to pass the buck to anyone else. What’s more, we won’t just clean them for you; we will repair, replace, or give you a full refund. Beyond that, if MasterShield causes a clog gutter which damages your home, we will pay your homeowner insurance deductible for you to cover the claim! That’s how confident we are that our system simply won’t clog in the first place. We believe in and stand by the gutter guards we sell.
Nobody else has a warranty like that.
MasterShield offers many more features to solve more than a dozen common problems that start at your gutters. It's why we say our protection starts at your gutters but doesn't end there.

Why Chose MasterShield over a Costco Gutter Guard
Costco offers two gutter guard solutions. The first is an inexpensive DIY option that requires a lot of work and ladder climbing and does not come with any kind of option to get professional installation.
The second is a partnership with what seem to be legitimate installers, but one in which Costco takes a cut and the installers are the people who primarily benefit. They are also selling an older design that only protects your gutters. MasterShield offers many more features to solve more than a dozen common problems that start at your gutters. It’s why we say our protection starts at your gutters but doesn’t end there.
When you install MasterShield, you get the most advanced gutter guards on the market today, ones with essentially no maintenance. If they ever clog, we will come over and fix it for you, including investigating the reason behind the clog so that it doesn’t happen again. Or you will get your money back.
Our patented CopperCare™ micromesh is the first copper and stainless filter and you can’t find this filter in just any product! Copper solves the issues with oils and organisms, the moss, lichen and algae that grows everywhere and anywhere, including on all gutter guards. Copper is kills the spores to stop them from growing. It’s also a natural oil thinner so that we have a solution for oils that leach out of your roof shingles, which we bet you never new happened. Since it does, we addressed it.
Our skilled professional installers will get your gutter guards right the first time. They will custom fit them to your home, making them installed like your roof pitch.
Go with MasterShield and you won’t have to worry about your gutters again…or about falling off the ladder because you’ll never have to go up there to clean them.
