Higginbotham has continued to advance and refine his technology. He analyzed and tested countless fabric membranes and determined that there were key features that caused certain configurations to pull water through better than others. Through his research and innovation he created one of only twenty documented advancements in the field of gutter protection, as recognized by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), since gutter covers were first patented in 1884 (there are over 500 patents in this field, but all are derived from what was learned through these twenty advancements). Most of the other advancements are now in the public domain or just weren’t commercially viable; Higginbotham’s is the only viable technology still patent protected.

Higginbotham’s research ultimately led him to produce the first gutter guard to ever feature stainless steel in any part of its design (our microfilter), and with the ideal combination of water filtration, water flow and self cleaning properties. What’s wrong with other system’s “When it clogs, we’ll clean it for free” warranty? Well, this type of warranty tends not to be a written one, or at least not one put in writing by the manufacturer.
